The Property Owner's Association of Legacy Pointe was formed, as required by the City of Fayetteville, when the subdivision was developed. The primary purpose of the POA is to manage upkeep of the "Common Grounds" owned by the POA (i.e., shared property of all property owners of Legacy Pointe). These Common Grounds presently include the land that borders Double Springs Road between the two entrances to Legacy Pointe. In addition, the POA owns and is responsible for upkeep of the retention pond behind the town homes and bordering the park area. The POA had previously been responsible for upkeep of the park area as well, but this land has been turned over to the City of Fayetteville for the development of a city park, Harmony Pointe, which enjoyed its Grand Opening in October of 2007.
Another purpose of the Legacy Pointe POA is to enforce the Covenants and Restrictions (available on this website and in the county offices) of Legacy Pointe. The Covenants include restrictions pertaining to maintaining safety and the appearance of the neighborhood (both the grounds and the architectural structures within the community).
The main responsibilities of the POA Board include collection of assessments, management of POA funds, sharing information among POA members, and seeking input from the community on establishing goals for the future of the neighborhood. Finally, although it is not mandated by the Covenants, a goal of the POA Board is to help build and strengthen the sense of community within Legacy Pointe, such as through the organization of social activities.
The Legacy Pointe POA Board has been faced with many challenges since the non-profit organization was handed over to the property owners from the developer. The obstacles and conflicts have been many, but we continue to make progress toward the goals of improved organization, communication, and financial stability.
The Legacy Pointe POA Board has a number of goals aimed at improving communication within the community and seeking greater involvement of Legacy Pointe residents and owners. The establishment of this website should help greatly to achieve that end. In addition, committees have been formed to serve various functions in the community, including the Parks and Grounds Committee, Architectural Committee, and Landscaping Committee. If you are interested in helping on a committee for Legacy Pointe, please write, call, or email any of the current board members.
Finally, we ask all of you to review the Legacy Pointe Covenants and Bylaws and consider if there are changes that should be made as a community. It is important for us as an association to take greater control over those documents to make this a neighborhood where we all want to live. However, making changes to these documents requires a large percentage of residents/owners to be present at community meetings or for their proxies to be given in order to have a quorum. So please talk to your neighbors about obtaining their proxy votes if they are unable to attend meetings themselves.
The above goals are only a few of those that the POA Board has for the community. Please share with us any other ideas that you have for our neighborhood and the Association. We look forward to serving you and making a contribution to our community. It is our hope that the future of the Legacy Pointe POA will be a bright one and that the association can play a positive role in our neighborhood.
