There have been reports from residents that vehicles have been burglarized. One resident indicated that items were removed from the back of a pick-up truck (somebody liked Dr. Pepper).
It is important to try and do as much as possible to not be a victim. While efforts are not always successful, as one resident will attest, still it better to be a victim once than it to become a victim twice. If you have valuables or things of importance to you, please do not leave them in your vehicle. It is one thing to be a victim of a vehicle break in, but it is another to have items removed from your vehicle. Use the LOCK your car, HIDE valuables, and TAKE your keys approach. This is not by any means a foolproof way of not being a victim, but if the burglar does not see anything, then they will generally move to a vehicle where they see something that can generate money to them.
Officer Clayton, of the Dallas Police Department, stated that most of the burgary of a motor vehicle criminals want something that will net them at least $10 for their next drug fix. So even if you don't think an old camera or cell phone is valuable, if left in sight, the would be burglar sees drugs.
