I also agree that the b-ball goals may draw outside guest - as did the pool last year- but it is very hard for a police officer to police his/her own neighborhood.  It would take all the residents working together to keep an eye out and scare outsiders off.

My previous neighborhood had a sand v-ball court & it was always a mess with weeds & the cats used it as a litter box.  Out of the 5 years that I lived there, it was used about 3 or 4 times.

We also had a play area with swings, slides, play fort and benches.  It was wonderful for the kids & right by our pool. As parents were at the pool the kids could run over & play.  I think that if we did the same thing but added a couple of picnic tables & a grill, that is permanently anchored, this area could be used for family parties or neighborhood gatherings.  What would even be better is to put the tables & grill under a covered area.

Jackie KeelingI agree that basketball goals tend to draw attention by outside guest, however, we live in a subdivision with about 10 police officers it seems like. I would think they could keep an eye out for that and scare them off.Smile

The playground would be a great idea.  We think it would be a good way for the neighborhood kids to get to know each other (and burn some energy).  The basketball and volleyball courts...not so much.  The kitty litter box comment is a good point : )
