Our purpose is to develop a training program that is free to all people who want to be servant leaders and team builders, and who want to help neighborhoods become thriving, self-reliant communities with localized economies.
One person can make a difference, especially if they have some skills, mentoring, coaching, and networking support. Thus we have the following goals:
1. To create a web site much like the www.nvcacademy.com which gathers all the best practices and information for neighborhood transformation.
2. To locate people who want to live in community and/or work on-line and focus on this project.
3. To have a pilot program at the Farm Neighborhood in Fayetteville and Living Springs Community in Kingston
4. To network and create a coalition with all the people who are doing great things in neighborhoods.
5. To get funding for the actual project, and to offer stipends to the Community Facilitators.
6. To have 10,000 Community Facilitators making a phenomenal difference by March 2008.
Imagine thousands of people -- of all skills and abilities, all income levels, all ages, colors and creeds -- coming together in their neighborhood, agreeing on a dream for their community in which no one is left out, and then acting together to make it real.
... Individuals, families, community groups, businesses, churches, nonprofits and schools together taking ownership of their economic and cultural lives, creating a unified voice, multiplying opportunities for youth and adults to lead lives with purpose and meaning.
... People acting like true citizens, taking pride in their shared commitment to community, working on their own and in partnership with government to make the place where they live safe, prosperous and beautiful for all.
. . . Everywhere, the world building community this way -- year after year, generation after generation -- in neighborhoods, towns and cities, regions and countries, transforming our government, society, and planet.
... Reconnecting us all, neighbor to neighbor, person to planet, making the world whole.
We can create this world?…together. Will you join us?
