The origin of Livingston Heights Place

"A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE"

Livingston Heights Place was founded in the 1940's by a group of ambitious African-American attorneys, doctors, educators and business people who aspired for a suburban lifestyle that was not afforded to them in other parts of the city at the time. There are but 20 homes in the small community.  All of the homes were custom built by the original owners on spacious lots. Most of the homes are built on double lots.  Former Tuskegee Airman, and  Columbus City Councilman Dr. John Rosemond, Ohio State University and Cleveland Browns Professional Football Hall of Famer William (Bill) Willis, Pharmacist, Waldo Tyler,  Attys. William and Esther Toler ( The only husband and wife law firm in Columbus, Ohio at the time), the Toler’s daughter, Judge and TV personality Lynn Toler and Jazz Musician Sammy Hopkins, all once resided in Livingston Heights Place.  Livingston Heights Place is one of Columbus Ohio's most historically significant neighborhoods as it exemplifies African American economic and social growth in the Columbus Area in the 1940’s and 50’s. It is truly "A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE."
