LACP Calendar

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The LA Community Policing Calendar
... a new, city-wide, community service
LACP.org is very please to announce the launch of a brand new, city-wide, interactive community service, the Los Angeles Community Policing Calendar.
It's always available off the LACP.org front page.
Listed on the new LA Community Policing Calendar you'll find an ongoing and constantly updated stream of current community based policing and community government events.
Anyone at all can submit a listing for their area, and we've color coded the calendar to make it easy to see what's happening in your part of town.
Anything in listed in BLACK will be events that belong to the entire City, such as Police Commission meetings, Townhall meetings, and special events such as Golf Tournaments, etc. ... but Division events will be color coded by Bureau for ease of viewing.
Well list the events on the LA Community Policing calendar as follows:
City-wide events.. BLACK
Valley Bureau ....... RED
Central Bureau ..... BLUE
West Bureau ........ GREEN
South Bureau ....... ORANGE
Special events ...... PURPLE
Typical events we'd like to see included will be Open Houses, C-PAB meetings, Special Bureau events ... in short, any large event you'd like to see posted ... City-wide, Bureau-wide or Division-wide (must be larger then a Basic Car Meeting or a single Neighborhood Watch).
Feel free to send them in ...
Just click on the ''ADD EVENT'' button on the calendar itself, fill in the easy-to-use form, and send us your request. As soon as we can, we'll approve and post your listing.
Please be sure to include your phone number and contact information. And please be sure to let us know what Bureau and Division your calendar event belongs to, so that we can color code it correctly.
But that's it! It's that simple ...
As soon as your submission is received, reviewed and approved by Los Angeles Community Policing it will appear to everyone. In this way, anyone in the Department or anyone in the community can send in a submission, but inappropriate events will not get on the calendar (those that do not relate to community based policing specifically, and community involvement in government in general).
Once again, a new event can be submitted in a few minutes, and will instantly appear to everyone as soon as the calendar administrator approves it. Corrections and changes to an existing entry can be made very quickly, too. They'll appear immediately, as soon as the administrator is notified.
We feel this is a tool whose time has come, and are happy to serve the City, Department and community by offering you the LA Community Policing Calendar.
So get busy ... send in you stuff!
Directors, LA Community Policing
We are very grateful for the contribution made to the Los Angeles community by Bill Fisher, of Fisher Engineering, and his website at http://www.LosAngelesCalendar.org which has made this possible, and to John M. Mavar, Harbor Area Director for Mayor James Hahn, who introduced us.
For more information on how this calendar got started, and especially to view what's going on in the greater LA Area, please see the http://www.LosAngelesCalendar.org website.
LACP ... a community forum
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LACP ... a community forum for All ... because together we can make a difference

To add yourself to our email list just send an email to:

add-me@lacp.org

Or tell everyone what you're doing, or what you think ...

This is a community forum, and Los Angeles Community Policing believes that together we can make a difference.

As time goes on LACP.org will feature unusual and interesting things that are being done in and around the City of Los Angeles by people involved in community based policing.

There are many individuals, groups and organizations with ongoing projects or special events are not a part of the ''official'' LAPD structure, although they may be supported and even facilitated by LAPD and community policing activists.

This is an invitation for you to be included. Let us know what topics you'd like us to cover ...

And if you wish to write an article for LA Community Policing, expressing your experience or opinion, by all means, please feel free to send it in.

We'll be happy to create a link directly to your own group's website if you have one ...

This is YOUR website, your community forum ... so this will be what you make it.

Get busy! Send in your stuff!

Send an email with your contributions to:

mail@lacp.org

Oh, and thank you for your supporting your LAPD Officers.

Help us help you ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Help us help you ... your input is what it's all about
http://www.LACP.org - it's YOUR site
We've had virtually nothing but a positive response about our LA Community Policing website, and have begun to receive invitations to visit a variety of community merrtings, including C-PAB meetings, to talk about it.
As time goes on, we'll be happy to visit them all, as well as other neighborhood or ''community government'' group meetings, because we're trying to let all of you know that LACP.org is YOUR site, not ours.
It will become whatever you in the community make of it.
We encourage you to write us an article concerning community policing issues. We want Los Angeles Community Policing to begin to reflect other voices, other views.
There are many places on the site to do this already. You can send us a ''Letter to the Editor'' or join the ''LA Community Policing e-group''. And for the C-PABs and SLOs specifically, areas for your contributions are broken out by LAPD Division.
So all we need at this point is to begin getting more of your outside input.
LA Community Policing - Confidentiality
We understand the need for confidentiality very well, and we'll never use any community members' names, phone numbers, email addresses or any other personal information without first obtaining their expressed permission.
At LACP.org we know this should always be voluntary.
The email list we are compiling for our outreach will remain private and will not be shared. People will be added or removed promptly and it will be used solely for the promotion of community based policing.
This began as a simple attempt to form contacts between the LAPD C-PABs across the City, but it's become much more than that.
The overwhelmingly positive response confirms to us that across the City this service fulfills an important need, and so now it's become a full time commitment.
LA Community Policing - Outreach
As we've said, there's been an incredible response to this site.
But so far, we've created the simple email list we're using for our outreach from scratch ... and from our own resources.
Any suggestions you may have as to how we could let more potentially interested Angelinos know of our Los Angeles Community Policing forum is appreciated.
Perhaps there are some email group lists for your area of the City that could be useful ...
Perhaps there are some of you who know of community websites to which we could be linked ...
If you know of anything you think would help, or have any ideas that can assist us in doing our outreach, please write to us here:
outreach@lacp.org
In the meantime, we've added a way for individual visitors to the website who are not currently on the contact list to ask to be added. Just send an email to:
add-me@lacp.org
Note: This list will not be shared with any other group, nor will it be used for purposes other than promoting Los Angeles Community Policing.
Once again, we appreciate your many kind words of encouragement, and ask your continued help with outreach for Los Angeles Community Policing.
Yours in service,
Bill Murray
