First, let me pass out a big thank you to all the members of LOHA for the enjoyable decorations you all put out over the holiday seasons. It made the whole subdivision look bright and festive.
We did have some minor problems with the Holiday lights out at the gate. The lights in the trees were taken out a couple of times by getting snagged on trucks passing through the entrance, then with the rain, it was too much of an electrical load and some of the lights had to be disconnected until the connections dried out. Thankfully, we only lost one wreath due to theft. I hope whoever took it put it to good use. That is better than we have done in some other years

We have had a few complaints about pet control. San Antonio does have a leash law. Pet control is covered in the Lost Oaks Homeowners Association, Inc. Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions under the general heading of nuisances. All pets are to be under leash control when outside of your yards - that is cats as well as dogs. Additionally, it is each pet owner's responsibility to clean up after their pet. Your neighbor or other residents should not have to clean up after your pet. While cats do a wonderful job of mousing the neighborhood, they do a terrible job of gardening. Please, all pet owners, be responsible and considerate of your neighbors.Remember, as pet owners, you are responsible for any damages or injuries caused by your pet. There is also a safety factor here. A loose pet presents a traffic hazard that could result in the pet being injured by a vehicle driving on our streets, or possibly causing an accident if the driver has to swerve to avoid the animal.

We do have a humane animal trap available for those who require it. Give me a call at 558-6235 if you are bothered by critters in your back yards.

An additional pet complaint that we receive quite often is barking dogs. Many dogs bark at strangers, strange sounds, squirrels, etc. However, if it becomes incessant barking, barking for long periods of time, this can become an annoyance to your neighbors. All residents should be able to enjoy their yard with a certain element of peace and tranquility. And small children should not be awakened from their naps due to barking dogs. If you have a dog that barks continually, please keep it inside when you are not home to control it, or take other measures when the dog is outside to keep it from being a nuisance to your neighbors.

Another noise related item - vehicle alarms. We seem to have several vehicles with alarm systems parked on the street that get activated a little too often by passing motorists (e.g. UPS, school buses, etc.). Many alarm systems have sensitivity adjustments, which if properly set, would avoid many of these false alarms we hear. Parking these vehicles in driveways instead of on the street may also reduce the number of false alarms.
This off street parking would also ease traffic congestion and help to minimize the possible tragic results of an unseen child darting out in front of an oncoming vehicle.
