Last month, I said I would use this column to keep you up to date on all the projects LDDI is working on. One of the most important areas of development is the expansion of the grant writing department.

Our first new grant in about four years came from the Mayor's office of Neighborhood Response. It was for updating our computer system and improving our communication network. We have purchased some new hardware, software and
a new printer. We still have some of the money remaining in our account and plan to make another purchase soon.

We are about to submit grant applications for operating funds and the photo library project. In addition, we will be submitting applications for communications grants by mid-October. We have identified several areas that
can be greatly enhanced by public funding. Along the same line, we are working to develop the endowment and deferred giving programs. If you would like to become involved in the design of either of these programs, please let
me know.
