DDRO: Forum Seeks Solutions

May 12, 2000

Preservation, motorcycles, drunks and developments were just a few of the topics discussed at the Downtown Denver Residents Organization's April Forum.
Kathleen Brooker, President of Historic Denver, Inc., along with Ellen Ittelson of the Denver Planning Office described a preservation process they hope to initiate for protecting Denver's remaining 30 Buildings eligible for local landmark status.
Kim Kucera, representing Councilperson Debbie Ortega, Captain Lamb and Officer Judith Will of District 6, Denver Police Department, listed proposals for addressing residents' concerns regarding noise, unruly visitors to our neighborhood, traffic problems, drinking in parking lots, valet parking problems, motorcycles disturbing visitors to our city, especially in Larimer Square.
Our next Forum will be May 23 at 6 p.m. at Wynkoop Brewery, 18th and Wynkoop Streets. Councilpersons Debbie Ortega and Elbra Wedgeworth will discuss Denver developments regarding neighborhoods, and will hear questions from the audience regarding concerns pertinent to residents.
Next board meeting is May 9, 6 p.m., Kittredge Building second floor. Lois Court, Director of Neighborhood Response, will attend.
