Sunday night 10/15
Sunday night about 9:30, Someone or something ring the door bell several times and there was a loud thump on the door. It startled me and being very cautious, I did not open the door. I have a security screen door that is always locked. I waited a few minutes and looked out the window and did not see anyone. Interesting since Obispo dead ends into my house. I am going after more security lights.

Mesa Crime
Marguerite,
I think for our size of neighborhood, we are well below an ''average'' of crime. I do think a lot of what goes on here is ''innocent'' pranks by teenagers, but obviously this last incident was not.
A panic is definately not in order here, but being aware of what can happen definately is.
Unfortunately, we aren't in the 1950's anymore, where it was safe to leave houses open 24 hours a day - and this neighborhood is not any more or less subject to problems than even the million dollar homes are. There are gated communities all over the phoenix area that also have problems.
The great thing about Marlbough Mesa is that we ALL watch out for each other, and we are a close knit community. A LOT of places can't say that.
Stay safe and enjoy life here :)

Small Update
I talked with Mesa Police today and they tell me that his court date was yesterday and he in fact WAS released. I was not able to find out more without a name -- which I did not have.
They also told me to talk with the our neighbors on Obispo to which this all happened because they will be given reports and kept updated. I can also get the name from them.
I have put a call into them, but their hours and mine have not been ''meshing'', so I will give more details, name, etc. once I hear from them.

Latest/Last Update
Sgt. Beck had been away -- thus had not returned my call. He was the arresting officer on duty that night.
He tells me that the man was drunk and says that he was looking for someone ''in the area'' and that the back yard gate was open. (No one can confirm/deny this statement.) I feel Sgt Beck himself is not sure of that excuse. Nevertheless, it is what the man used in court and what he told Sgt. Beck.
The Sgt. assures me that he is NOT a sex offender, but merely living in a halfway house WITH sex offenders in Mesa.
The sergeant also told me that because of what the man ran up against in our neighborhood, that he feels sure we will not be seeing him around anymore!
Sgt. Beck also confirmed everything that we had already been told.
