Maywood Library Concerns & Issues

Picture

What is the purpose of the Maywood Library & Who represents us!

Point: The point for me is, that I strongly believe that the Maywood library needs reform. It needs it bad or those folks who are running it are going to create a ( narrow vision ) of what a contempory library is suppose to
provide for local citizens.

Just for starters, Maywoodians who attend the various churches ought to take off their blind folds( it's not fair that way ). There are far too many people who should be invovled in the direction of the library, who attend these churches who should direct their influence and attention toward the library. Dog goneit, Maywood is over 85% African American, yet you can't tell it! That's ridiculous! The way that library is being run, reminds me of massa, slave. What is needed is a progressive, forward thinking administration and staff. And it ain't there, as of now!

Since, I was escorted out last October. (I really ought to sue them!)These very small minded and scared group of people ( and they know which ones, I'm referring to) have attempted to create alls kinds restrictive rules to control how certain local people utilize services and space in the library, as if they want to control the way you learn. I sense a chilling affect. Now, I've said it. I can be more specific if nesscessary.

Get this straight, all you social elites at the library. It's not your library. It belongs to US! Humble yourselves and remember, you've got a lot of nice wonderful youth who come, there. I have another letter, that I started to share, but hopefully this will get your attention. I'm recommending that staring from the top to the board to certain staff and security. Humble yourselves and check yourselves or we will take this matter to another level.

And by the way, for those of you who wonder how, Sy Bounds has the nerve to speak to the library in this manner. You possibly may need to be reminded thatI've been over the years a strong and consistent advocate for the Maywood library, including advocating from my former radio program 'Sy's Creative World'. Interviews and many conversations to advise Stan. And although, folks may see themselves as bigger now, than before. I'm still advising! The scope of what our community requires from a library, extends much, much further than what is now being presented to us. When you attempt to deflect my creative, heartfelt efforts, you are insulting the years of research, and community involvement that Sy Bounds has labored in over many, many years to affect positive, progressive ways in Maywood, going back to the early 1950's. You will respect that!
