CMSPEER,
I totally agree with you. (I pay my HOA dues. I'm not required, or even obligated to "participate" in the HOA events. That fact shouldn't excuse me from being able to voice my opinion on my neighborhood. The fact that I pay my dues and follow the HOA rules give me as much right as anyone.) My question to you is WHY should u be informed about whats going on with other residents (fine assessments, liens, etc etc)? Just because you aren't informed doesnt mean NOTHING is being done to correct problem areas in the community. And we all know what ASSUMING things do for us!!!!
You seem very adamant about this gated system. Obviously you have NEVER lived in a gated community (homes or apt). It doesnt PREVENT crime from outsiders. It does give its residents a pseudo sense of security. But at what cost does a person wanna pay for a FALSE sense of security? PERSONALLY, IM ALL FOR RAISING DUES TO ADD UPGRADES TO THE COMMUNITY. i noticed the new community up on reames rd (brookline) has a very nice gate at the entrance of its community. Would you be living to pay 100k more to move into a community just because it has a formal gated entrance? Do you think they will be exempt from crime because of their gate?
We are all responsible for the "curb appeal " in the neighborhood. What your neighbors house looks like affects the value of your home as well.
