You May, You May Not...

want a debt-exclusion override. Either way, that is your prerogative. But it burns me to pick up a newspaper and see the heading ''$12 million debt exclusion.'' We rely on our local newspeople to bring us straight forward information in order that we can make informed decisions. Within the article a differant message is given, but it is the headline that grabs the eye and sets the tone. Know that the override is for $20.9 million: $8.9 mil. will allow payments on monies already borrowed and if passed will allow that debt, already paid from our current budget, to be excluded from prop 2 1/2; $12 mil. in new dollars to pay for bonds to fund street, school, police, fire, and COA needs. It is vital that you know this in order to make an informed decision for you will not see any dollar amounts on the ballot. This binding question will not appear on our ballot as it appears in this week's Forum. Please, if this is important to you, if you have any doubts, if you want to base your decision on fact, simply call or e-mail our Executive Secretary or our Finance Manager. And then ask yourself, if we aren't in fiscal difficulty, why are we not simply borrowing for new needs, why must we include expenses currently paid for under our 2 1/2 levy?
