About our association

Who We Are:

The Motor Avenue Improvement Association (“MAIA”), is a non-profit volunteer, cooperative organization of businesses, professional firms and property owners primarily located on Motor Avenue, between Pico and Washington Boulevards. The MAIA members pay annual dues to fund the Association’s activities and services to the community.

Mission

The MAIA seeks to form a vision for the community followed by implementation. We are advocates for smart growth, looking at neighboring development projects as a sum, and not planning by variance.

The Motor Avenue Corridor is rapidly expanding. New five and six story mixed-use buildings are being proposed every day on land previously occupied by single-family homes and small businesses. Growth happens, but it doesn’t mean we have to lose the character of the community. Together we can guide it into a vision that accounts for pedestrians, residents and businesses on Motor Avenue.
