The purposes for which the Corporation is organized and operated are as provided:
1. Maintaining and improving the safety of the neighborhood.
2. Encouraging the maintenance of housing stock.
3. Marketing the neighborhood by improving its visual appearance.
4. Helping to carry out housing and other programs of the Dutchtown South Community and Housing Corporation.
This Association is organized exclusively for the charitable purposes (which allow tax exemption with the meaning of Section 501(C)3 of the Internal Revenue Code) of combating community deterioration and improving the quality of life by promoting and undertaking neighborhood improvement and housing development activities.

Community Improvement Committee: Recruit block helpers and watchers to assist in the organization of our 91 blocks and to distribute flyers etc. Establish a line of communication between city officials, police, and residents of the community. Purpose is to inform residents of the proper procedures of problem solving.
Crime Prevention and Safety Committee: Work with police and other agencies to address neighborhood problems. Committee members must be a member in good standing with the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Association.
Membership Committee: Work closely with the treasurer in keeping records of memberships. Provide list to newsletter committee for quarterly mailings of "The Pleasant Side" Newsletter. Recruit new members when time permits.
Mobile Patrol Committee: Train volunteers to partrol the neighborhood two days per month, with a partner and a cellular phone. Patrols maintain logs on suspicious activity and unfamiliar vehicles. Two hour shifts are available during the day or night. Residents and absentee landlords are encouraged to join the patrol. Must be a member in good standing of the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Association.
Newsletter Committee: The name of our newsletter is "The Pleasant Side" and is published quarterly for informational purposes to the community. Postal delivery is generally by membership only, with copies made available at the neighborhood meetings. The committee folds and labels prior to the mailing of each new issue.
Phone Alert System Committe (PAS): Establish most efficient phone line system for connecting neighbor to neighbor, block to block. Used when information needs to reach the neighborhood quickly.
Property Enhancement Committee: Assist property owners who wish to maintain their property values by addressing deteriorating or unkept problem properties or problem residents. Communicate with inspectors and other city officials, property owners, residents, and landlords.
Public Relations / Social / Fund-Raiser Committee: Promote and enhance the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood through promotional strategies and communication with media. Also help plan fund raising events such as BBQ's, raffles, yard sales, etc. Must be a menber in good standing of the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Association.
