The Murray Hill Neighborhood Association (MHNA) is an all-volunteer community organization whose goal is to ensure that Murray Hill continues to be a highly desirable place to live and work, by preserving our residential character.

A unique residential enclave nestled in Manhattan just south of Grand Central Terminal.
The following committees of MHNA work to maintain Murray Hill as a unique residential and historic neighborhood:
BLOCK PARTY
Produces the longest running annual Block Party for over 25 years on 35th Street from Madison to Lexington Aves.
BUSINESS FORUM
Addresses the issues affecting local merchants and businesses.
GENERAL MEETINGS, PUBLIC RELATIONS and PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS
Plans MHNA General Meetings and arranges for speakers of general interest; develops Public Relations for MHNA and screens requests for charitable contributions within Murray Hill.
GRAFFITI SQUAD
Removes graffiti from mail and fire boxes and removes stickers and signs from lampposts and phone booths.
GREENING (Comprises four subcommittees)
* HOOPS: sees to the repair and replacement of hoops around tree beds.
* IVY LEAGUE: plants ivy in tree beds all over Murray Hill.
* PARK AVENUE MALLS: responsible for annual flower plantings and upkeep in the Park Avenue Malls.
* TREE COMMITTEE: cares for trees in the entire neighborhood, arranging for maintenance or replacement.
All four subcommittees collaborate on seasonal neighborhood cleanups.
LIAISON WITH COMMUNITY BOARD #6
Presents the views and interests of MHNA to CB6, keeps us informed about wider community issues and cooperates with neighboring civic groups.
LIAISON WITH MURRAY HILL BOROUGH ACADEMY
Offers career lecture series to the students.
LIAISON WITH P.S. 116
Helps with fund raising and introduces parents to the community.
MANHATTAN NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL
Discusses issues common to many communities in the city and seeks solutions.
MEMBERSHIP
Recruits and welcomes new members and matches their interests with the appropriate committee.
MERCHANT LIAISON and DISCOUNT PROGRAM
Obtains discounts from neighborhood merchants for members of MHNA. Solicits donations of goods or services for the annual block party and other MHNA events.
NEWSLETTER
Reports on neighborhood activities and issues of concern to residents. Published quarterly.
PRESERVATION and DESIGN
Dedicated to preserving buildings of important architectural quality. Has acquired official landmark status for a number of buildings.
PUBLIC SAFETY/POLICE LIAISON
Links Murray Hill to the 17th Precinct Community Council.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Dedicated to resolving problems that affect quality of life in Murray Hill.
SOCIAL EVENTS PLANNING
Develops interesting excursions, holiday parties and other social events.
THIRD AVENUE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Works to implement beautification improvements on Third Avenue from 34th Street to 39th Street.
TRAFFIC and TRANSPORTATION
Addresses traffic and parking problems in Murray Hill.
