Spring has nearly sprung and soon we?’ll be able to enjoy warm breezes, blue skies and those wonderful bright red tulips. But we?’ll enjoy it so much more if we can get all or some of those telephone kiosks removed from our residential streets and improve other neighborhood nuisances.
So I hope you will join us Friday, March 16, at the Church of Our Saviour at 7:30 pm (dessert will be served) when we?’ll get a full update on the explosion of public phones, as well as the traffic situation in Murray Hill. We expect all of our council people and representatives to attend, as well as representatives from the Department of Communication and the Department of Transportation. This is an important meeting for all of our membership to attend, if only to convince our representatives that we stand united as a community to get some action on issues of urgent interest to us. And, thank you to our members who have already written letters?—you are the mainstays of our community!
We remain very busy monitoring the developments of the Con Ed properties, installing new hoops and trees, monitoring new buildings, addressing the quality of life issues, getting ready for spring clean up and preparing for this year?’s block party celebrating our neighborhood with ?“A Garden Party.?”
To make this its usual gala event, we need volunteers to provide supplies, stuff envelopes and of course, (wo)man the tables on the big day, the first Saturday in June, the 2nd.
Whatever your interest, we have something you will enjoy doing, both for the party and in working for community betterment: indoors, outdoors, planting, fighting City Hall, protecting our buildings, developing new membership campaigns, design work, computers, using the telephone ?— you name it and we can get you involved. So, come out and join us, beginning with your attendance at the general meeting on March 16.
