This spring this little gem of a gallery is showcasing black ceramic vases by Welsh sculptor Keith Munro, an internationally renowned ceramic designer whose work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art(NYC), Centre Pompidou (Paris), and the Emperor of Japan, among others. Each vase has a unique sculptural surface quality due to a blend of ancient and modern firing techniques. According to the artist, the flames from the burning wood create uncontrollable surface patterns on the vase that allow him to concentrate on the simplicity of form.
In addition, the Freundorfer Gallery and Sigrid Freundorfer Fine Art will be exhibiting at the ?“Works on Paper?” Fair March 2nd - 4th, at the Park Avenue Armory (at 67th Street).
