In this issue we are pleased to tell you about a scrumptious fish and seafood restaurant that friends tell us they have visited several times. Each time they were delighted. We tried it and we concur. Metro Fish at 8 East 36 Street serves mammoth portions of absolutely fresh fish custom- cooked to individual specifications. Grilled, broiled, blackened, Greek-style, potato-crusted, dry, in wine sauce or in butter?—all are cooked to order with the special touch of a master chef.
Your reviewers shared the house green salad and crab cakes for superb starters; we dined on swordfish, striped bass, scallops and pompano, all magnificent! (Sorry we can?’t report on the desserts?—we didn?’t have room!)
Appetizers are in the $7-to-$9 price range while entrees run $20 to $29. But the real deal here is lunch, served until 3 pm. The same entrees cost from $16 to $18 with a huge complimentary salad bowl and two accompanying vegetables.
Metro Fish is a casual, comfortable restaurant located in a two-story townhouse. Try the upstairs dining room if you can climb the steps.
