Have you seen what happened to the old Windsor Liquor building at 4000 E 29th St.? It's been converted to an ICE CREAM shop and will soon provide cappuccino and coffee.
This was an old dump of a drive-through liquor store that could now be a positive part of the community. You might want to stop by and take a look. This is a great example of the Neighborhood Restoration work of the 29th Street Coalition Weed & Seed.
This is a property that used to cause more trouble than good for the community. Now it will be a great asset to the area. Special thanks to resident leaders Pat Martin, Donna Higginbotham-Perkins and owner Bob Douglas for making it happen!
This was originally Pat Martin's idea. She decided one day that she would get together with the owner to share her thoughts. Anyone that has met Pat Martin knows she can be quietly bold and really persuasive. Donna Higginbotham-Perkins kept the idea alive, and kept meeting with the owner. And the owner Bob Douglas put in a LOT of extremely long days, weeks and months to make this happen in his spare time. But really, they're all just ordinary people that decided that they would do what they could to make a HUGE change in the 29th Street Coalition area
