Message From The Chief:

COMMANDING OFFICER PATROL BOROUGH BRONX
ASSISTANT CHIEF THOMAS PURTELL

Welcome to Patrol Borough Bronx, the mainland police. So stated because the rest of New York City's other boroughs are situated on islands. The Bronx is home to several diverse communities, all of who work closely with their local police precincts to eradicate crime and enhance the quality of life for all who live and work here.

As the Borough Commander I am privileged to lead New York's Finest in ensuring the security and peaceful pursuit of our great community.

The Mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our City by working in partnership with the community and in accordance with constitutional rights to enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment.

In partnership with the community, we pledge to:

Protect the lives and property of our fellow citizens and impartially enforce the law.

Fight crime both by preventing it and by aggressively pursuing violators of the law.

Maintain a higher standard of integrity than is generally expected of others because so much is expected of us.
