Thanks, but I'm not worried about me. I just don't want to put said board member, who I am quite fond of, in a bad spot. If I was worried about me, I wouldn't put it online and with my name! |

Sarah -
Thanks for letting everyone know what Nick said about the pool.
I can understand the need to get things in place such as insurance, inspection and (especially) a security system before it opens. Maybe you don't care about the security system since you're planning to move, but for everyone else who plans to live here, the security system is one of the most important things we need to keep trespassers and vandals out of the pool and out of the clubhouse.
FYI, the pool renovation was completed ahead of schedule. Had it been completed a little later, it may have allowed time to have a security system as well as insurance in place.
I know it's hard to see that nice, sparkling clean pool and not have access to it in this July heat, but sadly, it's attitudes like yours that keep a dark, pessimistic cloud over the progress that's being made.
You have to admit, things are in a lot better shape around here than they were a couple of months ago when we had no lights, no pool, poor lawn service and the common area overgrown in weeds and a continual demand for hoa dues.
Would you rather still have it that way? I guess it doesn't matter to you, since you're moving anyway.
There's a big difference in being pessimistic and realistic. A security system will NOT keep people from accessing the pool. People need to realize that money does not grow on trees and that we, the homeowners are going to be paying for everything. I'm trying to stay positive about Curry Mgmnt, but it's pretty difficult right now. Lets take a look at the promises they said they'd do:
1) Mow/brush hog overgrown lots. Not completed 2) Fix erroding street Not completed 3) Open the pool... Well it's almost august and thats still not done 4) Other?
What have they done:
1) Collected dues 2) Spent time/money researching and figuring how much back dues are owed 3) Hired a 60k/yr lawn service that the home owners will be footing the bill for. 4) Promised to raise dues Jan 1st. |

ok, let's go over your items:
What they haven't done: 1) Mow/brush hog overgrown lots. Not completed, but ongoing. Have you seen the number of lots? Can you imagine the cost to brush hog and clear them all?
2) Fix eroding street: I happened to talk to one of the engineers on site one day when they were out there and this is in the planning stages, to be fixed correctly so the same thing won't reoccur in a year or so. They estimate work to begin in early August. There are no plans to repair cracks in several of the streets...just the sagging street and sidewalk near the entrance.
3)Open the pool: Contrary to what some are saying, the pool has not passed inspection. I understand a drain pipe needs to be upgraded (no doubt stuffed with dirt by the Ferrelviewers last year). Insurance is scheduled to be in place by next week and a security system is still being addressed. I have been told the pool will definitely be open this season.
Other things they have done: 1) Completely renovated the pool. 2) Began clearing weedy lots. 3) Cleared weeds, trimmed and remulched shrubbery in the common areas. 4) Established a new, comprehensive website. 5) Made themselves available by phone and email to answer residents' questions. Good communication.
It takes time and patience to accomplish everything that's needed to bring the neighborhood back up to standard. Why don't you stop complaining and try to see the good side of this?
