Another thing I have noticed. Now that I have chosen a "name" to post under there is no way to change it or to be anonymous anymore. Most of the time using the same name is fine. However, at times it would be helpful to post anonymously within our own group. I made the mistake of chosing the acronym for my neighborhood and once I thought about it I knew that was not a good idea since I do not have the authority to speak for the whole neighborhood. Yet now I find no way to change nor to be ever be anonymous again.

I like the new format. There's so many more options for posting now.

It is longer and not reader friendly.....and note the lack of postings.

Hi everyone - I'm one of the programmers here at Neighborhood Link and just wanted to follow up on this thread...
First - we hear you! We're a small company, and we all (president, support folks, programmers, etc) read your comments, so please keep 'em coming. We want to hear what you don't like so we know what needs to be changed, and we also want to hear what you do like so we know what not to change. Issues brought up in this thread: 1) Surprise. It must have been jarring to drop into your good old discussion area and find it looking completely different! Our neighborhood coordinators got some advance notice but we need to come up with a way to let everyone know when changes are afoot. We hate spam so have never sent bulk email to anyone but neighborhood coordinators. Sounds like it might be a good idea to change that policy; we could set up a mailing list where anyone who's interested could sign up to be notified of upcoming changes. 2) Speed. I am personally working on this and I'm going to keep working on it until the site feels "snappy" again. The page load times are too long and people won't use the site if it's slow. 3) Links back to your neighborhood, preview your post before it goes up - in the works. I feel kinda dumb for not having put those in here to begin with, especially the links back to your neighborhood. (continued in next post) |
