Garden Grant Grows at United Way into the Urban Garden and Beautification Program
We are expanding our Garden Grant in two great ways!
#1 The grant now covers community beautification and clean-up projects. #2 New class requirements! – Now grant recipients are only required to attend fewer gardening and program development classes. But don’t worry if you need more help – recipients have access to all our Training Academy classes, the William Bennett Library, and 1-on-1 technical assistance from our staff.
In addition to urban gardens, now beautification, community signage, and clean-up projects will also be considered for funding up to $3,000. The Neighborhood Partnership Center wants to help you make your community a more livable place. Neighborhood gardens are NOT just about plants and dirt – they are a stepping stone to building a great community. When neighbors work together on the gardens and see results, they realize they can tackle other problems in their neighborhood together. The Center supports all efforts to bring people together.
We are constantly looking at ways to improve to better serve you! We have responded to your comments and we are making some more changes. We are hope to offer the application electronically on our website for those who can’t make it down to see us at the Center.
Here are the dirty details you need to know about the Garden Grant:
• Does our project/ organization qualify? Applicants must be a registered non-profit or civic association. They must live in the neighborhood where the project would be located. The project must attempt to beautify the area, either through a garden or clean-up.
• How do I apply? First, make sure your project and organization meet the criteria. Next, fill out the application. Use our staff and library to help you fine-tune it. Last, turn your application by the deadline with all the necessary information.
• Where can I get an application? Applications will be available on-line and at the Center.
• Deadlines: Turn in your application by February 3, 2003.
• Who do I contact with questions? Call us at 241-3072
• Where can I see previously funded gardens? We have funded some beautiful and successful gardens all over Columbus. Looking for inspiration – just call and we’ll point you in the right direction.
