Northlake Gate System Operating Information
Hours of Operation
Presently, the Northlake I gate is scheduled via a timer to be opened from 6:30am to 8:30am and from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Monday through Fridays and 12:00pm to 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. This is done to reduce wear and tear on the gate hardware with the majority of the residents coming and going to work within these timeframes. For the benefit of all residents of the neighborhood we will try to, as time allows, adjust the gate schedule for the gate to be opened during other periods for events such as parties, open houses, meetings or any other non periodic event. The request can be made either verbally or written using the contact information below. A notice of 3 days is requested. Requests shorter than that will be done only if scheduling allows and should be avoided.
Opening the gate by residents and non-residents can be done in various ways. It can be operated from the front panel at the gate, remotely via the phone and from within the car using keychain remotes that can be purchased. The specifics of how these operations are done are covered in the next section. New remotes that open the gate are available to residents for the cost of the remote from the homeowners association. If you need one contact the gatekeeper.
Entry Instructions ??“ a Resident
Using Entry Codes:
Press # and then enter the four digit entry code assigned to your address by the gatekeeper. A tone will sound and the gate will open to allow you through.
Using Transmitters:
Press the transmitter button when nearing the Northlake gate entry. If the transmitter is working correctly a red LED will light up on it. At the gate panel a tone will sound, the display will read OPEN and the gate will open for a short length of time. If the transmitter fails to open the gate after two seconds, release the transmitter button and press it again. The transmitter will only transmit its signal for two seconds at a time.
Entry Instructions - a Non-Resident
Using the Scroll Buttons Locate a Tenant
The gate panel electronic directory displays tenants names and their respective directory code. These are scrolled through by using the two scroll buttons on the faceplate of the system. Names are stored in alphabetical order. When either the A or Z button is pressed, the display immediately goes to the middle of the alphabet. Holding the buttons down will cause the display to scroll quickly, and pressing and releasing the buttons will cause the display to scroll one name at a time. Use the A button to scroll up, and use the Z button to scroll down.
Calling a Tenant
There are two ways in which a visitor can place a call from the gate system to the tenant.
1. If the visitor knows the tenants three digit directory code, they can simply enter it on the gate keypad to place the call.
2. If the visitor does not know the tenants directory code, they can use the scroll buttons to locate the name in the directory. Once the tenants name is displayed, the visitor simply presses the CALL button to place the call.
Granting or Denying Access
Once communication is established, the tenant can speak with the visitor and grant access to the visitor by using their telephone keypad. To do this, the tenant simply presses the number 9 on their telephone keypad. After the gate relay has been activated, a tone will sound in the tenants telephone indicating that the gate is opening (access has been granted) and the system will then hang up.
Some newer type telephones do not emit a continuous tone when their keys are pressed, so it may be necessary to press 9 twice to open the gate.
If the tenant does not wish to grant the visitor access, they should press the 4 on their phone and the system will then emit a tone and hang up. The tenant may also just hang up their telephone to deny access.
The West Gate
The West gate located in Northlake II should operate identically to the East gate. If it doesn??™t notify the gatekeeper.
These are the basics of the operation of the gate system here in Northlake I. To get your address set up with gate access codes contact the gatekeeper.? If you have any other questions about the gate feel free to send me an email.
