About Us

O.P.E.N. Louisville

Mission:

OPEN Louisville, Inc. is a Kentucky nonprofit corporation organized in Louisville, KY by a coalition of individuals and nonprofit corporations and associations. Its purpose is to bring together neighborhood associations, historic preservation advocacy organizations and environmental groups in order to promote and protect the following principles:

  • Open and transparent government, including the right and opportunity of all citizens to be heard effectively by government, and the right of citizens to know what their government is doing through open meetings and open records, is essential to our democratic way of life.

  • Preservation of our historical, physical and cultural heritage is essential to the identity of a community.

  • Environmental concerns, including protection of our land, water, air, the night sky, and the flora and fauna that inhabit them, are essential to protecting the health and welfare of all of our citizens.

  • Neighborhoods, urban, suburban or rural, are the backbone of our daily lives and the support for all our families, however constituted.

  • Louisville is the great city that we love and live in and want to make even better.

    National Preservation Week

    May 4th thru May 10th is National Preservation Week.
    A luncheon presentation at the Conrad Caldwell House on Tuesday, May 6th, 11:45 am, by nationally aclaimed Patricia Gay is sponsored by the Louisville Historical League.
