Can you even believe that we?’re almost halfway through 2002? I guess time flies when you?’re having fun?….and really busy! It?’s May and that means that the Neighborhood Resource Connection conference is coming soon! The committee has worked very hard to put this on again this year, and now some of the reigns have been passed to me as coordinator of volunteer recruitment for the conference. If you or someone you know would like to be a volunteer for the conference please give me a call at 614.462.6700 extension 219. There will be an volunteer information session sometime during the month of May! Hope to see you there!
Guess what else? We are currently in the process of hiring more VISTAs! We?’ve gotten some applications from some great candidates, but if you know someone who might be interested in becoming a VISTA, please call Maureen O?’Rourke at ext. 221.
In order to help the new VISTAs out when they start, I have been writing an OSU DIRECT VISTA Manual that holds all of the secrets to making this program great. There will be sections from grant writing to planning classes.
Speaking of classes ?– our next series is coming up fast. Starting on May 9th, OSU DIRECT and Communities in Schools will be offering a ?“Getting Ready for Summer?” Series. The classes will be held for four two hour sessions at West Broad Elementary School. ?“Getting Ready for Summer?” is a course for parents who need to find low-cost, fun activities for their children during the summer months. The dates of this class are May 9th, May 16th, May 23rd, and May 30th, from 6 pm to 8pm. If you have any questions about the class, or would like to register, please call me at 614.462.6700 ext. 219.
