Oak Park/Northwood Neighborhood Association

The neighborhoods which make up the area referred to as Oak Park-Northwood are located inside Loop 410, generally between N. New Braunfels to the west, and Harry Wurzach to the east. Oak Park-Northwood first came into existence in the early 1950's. The neighborhood known as "Northwood Estates" was developed by the renowned San Antonio construction magnate, H. B. Zachry, beginning in 1955.

The Oak Park-Northwood neighborhood offers a unique mix of housing on large and small lots, many lined with 100+ year old oak trees. New homes continue to be built in the neighborhood, and older homes are being updated continually. Despite the growth of San Antonio, Oak Park-Northwood remains one of the finest neighborhoods inside Loop 410, offering top rated schools, easy access to major highways, shopping malls and downtown, and a slower paced lifestyle compared to neighborhoods located outside Loop 410.

Please take an opportunity to visit Oak Park-Northwood and see for yourself why it is a wonderful place to live!

About our association

The Oak Park-Northwood Neighborhood Association was formed many years ago by a group of visionaries who realized that a well organized group of people has a greater chance of controlling the future of the neighborhood than if residents tried to do it individually. Today, the association is one of the most respected and powerful associations in the city.

The association holds two general membership meetings a year, one in March and one in October. The board of the association meets on a monthly basis to deal with a variety of neighborhood issues, and individual board members meet with the City Councilmen for Districts 9 and 10, and with the Mayor, on a regular basis.

A popular 4th of July Parade through the neighborhood is held each year, and the association is planning a number of other neighborhood activities designed to give neighbors the opportunity to meet one another.

The neighborhood association is intended to benefit all of the residents of the Oak Park-Northwood neighborhood. If you live in the Oak Park-Northwood area you are automatically a member of the association and are encouraged to partcipate in association activities. You can help insure that Oak Park-Northwood remains a wonderful place to live for years to come by supporting the association with your voluntary annual dues payment of $15.00 per household, and a small amount of your time!

Please let us hear from you.
