OAKS OF MONTECITO NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES

August 21, 2007



The Oaks of Montecito Neighborhood Association (OMNA) board meeting was held
on August 21, 2007 at Sara and Danny Marotto's, 1812 Buena Vista Drive. The
meeting was called to order by President John Miller at 7:05 p.m. Those
present for the meeting were John Miller, Fern Richey, Sara Marotto, Michael
Messer, Iti Nwiba, and Susan Croff.



Minutes of July 31, 2007 Board Meeting - The minutes were reviewed and
approved with one correction. The motion to approve was brought by Sara and
seconded by Fern.



Treasurer's Report - Fern presented the Treasurer's report with the current
balance of $ 722.23. This included all bills being paid as approved by the
board along with the August utility and mowing bill. Susan moved to approve
the Treasurer's report, Mike seconded, and the board approved.



Expenditure approvals - Susan requested the board approve a watering
apparatus to allow necessary watering at the Almonte entrance, as plants
were dying. Susan moved that a sum up to $500 be allowed for this purchase,
and Fern seconded. The board approved.



Resignation - Karen Rooney - John provided a resignation letter from Karen
Rooney, who has moved from the area. The resignation was accepted and it
was decided that the board would operate with 7 members until the elections
in the fall. It was also noted that the by-laws do not address replacement
of board members and that this may need to be addressed with the new board.



Report on Beautification - entrance landscaping - Fern Richey and Sara
Marotto - The beds at Almonte are drying out and the west bed at Montecito
needs to be weeded. The east wall of Almonte has cracked due to the change
in the weather. It was determined that the capstone would be placed within
the next two weeks. The capstones would have gaps to allow for the shifting
of the ground during wet and dry weather. It was also suggested that we
invite Mr. Edward Lee to the general meeting for introduction and
appreciation as he has been a big part of our success with both the mowing
and the assistance on the entrances. It was also suggested that we assign
the beds to each street (or designated blocks on a street for Palo Verde and
Buena Vista) once a month. Volunteers from each street that put in the most
hours would win an invitation to The Breakfast, given by Sara Marotto.



Newsletter Update - Sara and Mike had completed the newsletter and with help
of the board, they would be sent out the next day.



Next Board and General Meetings - A General Meeting will be held September
11, 2007, at 1516 Buena Vista Dr. (Croff's), 7:00 p.m. The General Election
Meeting will be held November 27, 2007 at 1812 Buena Vista Dr. (Marotto's)
at 7:00 p.m.



September General Meeting - Topics for the general board meeting were
discussed and a draft agenda was suggested. The agenda will be completed by
Mike at the request of John.



Adjournment - Susan motioned, and Fern seconded, and the meeting was
adjourned at 8:26.
