SSORM (Remember that term?)

An informal, social organization of current and former U.S. Navy submarine sailors or individuals with an active interest in learning more about U.S. Navy submarines.

The current president retired after 18 years of submarine service on board diesel electric (''SS''), fast attack (''SSN'') and Trident FBM (''SSBN'') boats.

Public Service

The U.S. Navy Submarine Service has for many years carried the title of being, ''The Silent Service.'' Our operations were among the most highly classified and tightly guarded missions involving not just Navy sailors, but Army, Marine Corps and Air Force personnel as well.

With the demise of the Iron Curtin and on set of the Freedom of Information Act, many of these incredibly dangerous operations are now coming to the public's attention. Unfortunately, a great deal of ''dis-information'' and incorrect information is surfacing as well.
