The Park Lake/Highland Neighborhood Association is very active and well established. We are continually recognized by the City of Orlando as a premiere neighborhood, and this helps us get their attention when we need attention! There are approximately 400 homes and 200+ businesses in the neighborhood. We are a membership based organization, not a deeded community association.
The Association meets every other month, usually on the third Thursday of the month. Meetings are at the Quaker Meeting House, 316 East Marks Street, starting at 7 p.m.
We officially incorporated under the State of Florida on July 10, 1989 as the Park Lake/Highland Neighborhood Association, Inc. The purpose was to preserve the quality of the neighborhood as an aesthetically pleasing place to live and to control growth in the immediate vicinity.
In 1995 the ByLaws were amended and the purpose broadened to "promote a sense of community spirit, to work together for the common benefit of all neighbors, and assist with problems which affect the general betterment of the neighborhood."
Our neighborhood association has been completely a volunteer effort, with many board members and committee members dedicating countless hours to the cause. Here's a list of our past presidents:
