A message from Art Hendricks of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement:
City Council passed the Time, Place and Manner Ordinance 4-0 today at City Council.? This culminates 14 months of work by neighbors, Liquor License Advisory Group, ONI staff, police, and the City Attorney's office in developing the ordinance and the guidelines.? I want to thank all of the neighbors who testified, without your support we would not have been successful. I want to personally thank, ONI staff,? specifically, Amy Cammack, Kimberly Mark Villela, Eric King, Paul Van Orden, and crime prevention staff.? I want to thank the PPB Chief Foxworth, AC Grubbs, AC Ferraris, Captain Cliff Madison and the Drugs and Vice Division, Officer Paul Wickersham and John Laws.? Lastly, I want to thank Commissioner Leonard and his staff for their leadership.?
The Time, Place and Manner will provide neighbors, police and crime prevention staff with tools to address problem outlets.? We will begin the next phase of training and implementation of the ordinance next week.? ONI and PPB will be required to report back to council in a year to update council on how the ordinance has worked. While we were successful today in passing the TPM, neighbors and City will have now have to focus efforts towards the state legislature make sure that the law which authorizes the ordinance does not get rescinded. We anticipate that efforts by the industry will be made to have the TPM rescinded. ?
