Hello I am curently looking for a home and am considering to buy at Castlegate. Can anyone give me some insite on this community. Do you enjoy living there, is it a family community, is there a lot of crime? etc.... thanks for the help! :)

Nice community

Yes it is definitely a family community. I don't believe we have had much crime other than a couple of cars broken into. I like it here. It is a neighborhood that still has the small town feel to it. With all the ranchettes with horses in the near vicinity, I feel like I am still in the country even though we won't be country very long.

Be careful

I've lived in Castlegate for 2 years now, and I'm one of those people who have been affected by the crime in Castlegate. I was one of those ''couple'', and let me assure you it is more like a couple DOZEN cars, that were broken in to- my whole LIFE was destroyed by that one crime, and I'm still trying to rebuild. In this same year, 2007, my home lost over $100,000 in value AND my property taxes were increased 1,600% (NO, that is not a typo, and that is not a mathematical error). Yep, my taxes this year are 16 times what they were a year ago- yet I receive NO county services, and drive my child to a school 22 miles away every day because there isn't a single decent school anywhere in the area... driving the on horrifyingly inadequate roads- that is, until I cross the county line into Maricopa County, which is like crossing over from hell to heaven. As much as I'd like to see a nice neighbor move in and replace some of the section 8 ghetto scumbags that are living around us, grafitti-ing our wall, smashing the windows on our car, and throwing disgusting things into our yard... I wouldn't wish living in Castlegate on my worst enemy.
