Mt Tabor Park Safety

Posted in: Mt Tabor
I am concerned about the lack of information and forward movement on the apprehension of the exhibitionist in Mt Tabor Park. I would not have known about him myself if I hadn't bumped into a hand made poster about a month ago. The victims poster also stated that he chased her. Nothing I have read in the neighborhood newsletter says anything about this.

I had never heard of this man before I saw the posters made by the victim. I agree that there should be more information desiminated, however how do you do it? I walk the park everyday and now know many of the park employees. I question them everyday regarding the progress of catching this guy. But what about the rest of the people? I think the posters where good, but not to keep up forever. Posters all over the park, encourage others to start posting and then we have a mess! so i do not know the answer, but i am concerned!!

I agree that posters everywhere would be a mess. A board located near the front resevoir might work. Then at least you will know what to look out for and where to find the information. Do you think that posting this kind of info would discourage or have any effect on the perpetrator? I am also wondering whose responsibility it is to catch this guy. Is it park security or Portland Police? Do you have any idea? I e-mailed the park security manager but he hasn't returned my e-mail.

I am on the newsletter committee. I just wanted to point out to you that we did run an article on the flasher in the March issue, which you had not yet received when you wrote your message. It's by Rosanne Lee, our crime committee chair, and it's called "Enough is Enough." The newsletter is on line on this web site. By the way, Officer Manougian, our neighborhood liaison police officer, was at our last neighborhood association meeting (April 21), and he said that there had been no reports of the flasher for a couple of weeks.
