ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Portland Youth Nature Program works toward uniting teenagers with their community and the environment, we hope to help teens develop a sence of environmental responsibility, increase their leadership ability, become a positive member of the community and increase their awareness of the environment by volunteering on local environmental projects.
ABOUT CAMP
Nature Camp is a 5 day camp-out that will run through the summer starting right after school is out. Campers will learn camping skills, wilderness survival skills, wildlife watching, hiking, natural history of the area and many other fun and exciting activities. A bus will run weekly from Portland to camp which is located near Beatty Oregon, all the campers need to bring is a sleeping bag, clothing and personal hygiene items. Our camp is insured and licensed through the State of Oregon as a Youth Camp.
SPONSOR OR START A TEAM
All teams have 1 civic sponsor which could be any Youth Organization, Kiwanis Club, Neighborhood Association, Church Group, School Student, School Club or any person or organization that would like to be directly involved with the teams projects, to help organize work parties, fund raising, camp-out and overall directorial duties. To start a team email us the about what type of organization your with and what your ideas are about starting a team. If you would like to start a team but are not involved with a civic organization we will find you sponsorship.
TO JOIN A TEAM
You can join one of our teams by emailing your registration information and telling us what projects you are interested in. Fund raising for our teams camp-out will be through a pledge per hour system.Civic Teams may use other means of fundraising. We will also be joining the Green House Network in the fifth annual Portland Race to Stop Global Warming as additional fundraising.
