About our association

About Prairie Highlands

This association was formed in response to the increased amount of development in the area. To ensure that all the proper precautions were taken to prevent adverse affect on the existing neighborhood caused by new development, the association closely monitored the planning of recent additions, specificly in the areas of traffic and drainage, to ensure that developers and planners take proper precautions. As we witnessed in the flooding in the recent past, the County needs input from the people who actually live here to make proper decisions.

What we have done

The Prairie Highland Neighborhood Association has had a hand in installing traffic control along NE 107th and 96th to keep our neighborhood from being a "shortcut" between 76th and 117th. The flooding issues of 1998 brought to the attention of the County Planning resulted in modification of the drainage plans in the Wolf Creek development. We need to continue to keep an eye on the northwest areas of our neighborhood to ensure the growth in this area doesn't adversely affect our neighborhood.

You can help!

As our neighborhood continues to grow, we need your help. The County requires that developers only notify the immediate neighbors for input when planning a development, but we all know that increased demands on traffic and other issues affect everyone in the area. As each of us recieve information about our immediate neighborhood, pass it on to your neighbors, and post it here. Together we can work to maintain a great environment for our families.
