Meeting on Overlay District 7-15-99

Neighbors met July 15 to learn what an overlay district is and how it would affect Washington Park East (WPE). Would it prevent us from expanding our homes? Would it encourage expansion that did not negatively impact our neighbor's sun? Would it help us sustain the character of our neighborhood? Would it help us manage growth in WPE so that what we moved here for changes, but does not disappear house by house, block by block?

A panel consisting of our neighborhood planner and a neighborhood spokesman from University Park and from West Washington Park shared their views about overlay districts. After the panel presentations, there was a question and answer period.
