Historic Survey of Neighborhood 3-5-00

Mar 17, 2000

In an effort to analyze the "pop top" and "scrape off syndrome affecting East Washington Park, Historic Denver Inc. at the request of Progress & Preservation . . . Together applied for a mini-grant from the Colorado State Historical Fund to conduct a structural study of the neighborhood. The Colorado Historical Society awarded Historic Denver Inc. $10,000 to determine the historic significance of East Washington Park's schools, businesses, homes and churches. These funds will be used to hire a denver based research firm to conduct a six month study. The results of this study will help determine whether or not our neighborhood is worthy of designation as an historic district.

Historic Denver Inc. will host a neighborhood meeting where you can learn more about this structural study and how to research the history of your own home. The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 5, 7PM at the Wahsington Park United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall, 1955 East Arizona Avenue. Enter the double doors on the Arizona side and go downstairs.

So join us for an evening of learning what this study entails and how you can get involved. See you at the church.
