About Us

Provincetowne of Charlotte, NC

Our neighborhood, Provincetowne, got its start back in the mid-1980’s and was one of the few neighborhoods developed this far south of Charlotte’s center city. At the time, Provincetowne was not part of the city of Charlotte, nor did the upscale area we now recognize as “Ballantyne” exist. In fact, the road that is now called “Ballantyne Commons Parkway” was known then as “Providence Road West.” Oh my, how things have changed…

Land was cheaper back in the ‘80’s. Provincetowne’s developer probably thought nothing of allowing for lots of up to ½ acre in size for the ranch style homes that he planned to build. The goal was to offer an alternative to the more traditional style of home by introducing what we call “Contemporary” design, marked by spacious, open floor plans, cathedral ceilings, functional modern style, and finished with long lasting, rough-hewn, natural cedar siding. Since then, nature has chosen to compliment us by showcasing a variety of natural greenery, mature and flowering trees and gardens, all lovingly tended by its residents.

Today, Provincetowne and its owners continue to hold an important place within the South Charlotte housing market. The city of Charlotte began to recognize early on the importance of this area by annexing the neighborhood and extending its services to our area. The growth of more residential properties, business and retail services was soon to follow with new construction expanding toward the south of the city. At present, our properties offer us one of the most affordable and family-friendly opportunities to occupy what is now one of the newest and most upscale areas in Charlotte.

As with all mature neighborhoods, ours continues to grow and change over time with its new and existing owners. As individuals, we continue to invest in our neighborhood homes with property “facelifts” and remodeling that give even more character, creating an “urban chic” style that is in step with our current housing market. Our neighborhood HOA also continues to offer great support in maintaining those common areas that identify us to the rest of the Ballantyne area as a well-respected part of the community. We are proud of who we are and the neighborhood we have become. If you are new to this community, we’d like to offer our sincere “welcome” and look forward to having you become as much a part of our history as the original builder who first broke ground here in Provinctowne, Charlotte, NC.
