Every year between 2,500 and 3,000 individuals visit the River of Life Mission looking for a meal, a shower, a change of clothes ?…a friend. These are men, women and children, some homeless, most poor, all needy. They are the elderly and the drug addicted; the veteran and the prostitute; the mentally ill and the disabled; the lonely and the forgotten. We refer to them as guests of the River of Life Mission. Since 1986, whatever their need, the mission has been a friend to them.
Located in the ninety five year-old, historic-registry-tabbed Sumida Building on the corner of Pauahi and Maunakea Streets in Chinatown, Honolulu, the mission has been the only open door for many of these, who through error, disability or circumstance have been left friendless. Here, however, there is no regard for wealth, gender, race, appearance or faith. Everyone is welcome at the River of Life Mission and all services are free of charge.
The mission is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 8:00pm, and on Sundays for an evening service. Our address is 101 N. Pauahi St. in Chinatown, Honolulu.
