For sale signs on Ohio/Bvd

Sharon makes some very good points to ponder. Thanks for your input.

However, I agree with the org' poster of this thread, and that is the for sale signs on both these homes at the corner of Ohio/Blvd are too large and ugly. I also agree that this realtor seems to be too focused on getting her own publicity out there instead of what looks nice for the neighborhood. She claims on her signage that she's our neighbor when indeed she doesn't even live in the neighborhood.

Can someone approach her and ask her to remove these signs and replace them with the standard 'for sale' sign or should we just call code enforcement?

Rezoning/Sign issure

About two years ago, both properties were up for rezoning. Many of our neighbors attended the planning commission meeting and city council meeting to speak against the rezoning. Both the planning commission and city council sided with the neighbors. The rezoning was denied.

I think the biggest hurdles that the owners had with the rezoning was that there was absolutely ZERO communication between them and the neighbors. So when the rezoning notice appeared, no one had a clue about the ''mixed'' zoning use that would prevent a high traffic business.

The current owner, who now owns both properties, has still had ZERO conversation with any of us on the 700 block of Ohio. So as you can imagine, a number of the neighbors who opposed the previous rezoning planned are offended by the statements that makes this property appear to be a commercial zoning. So he has made it personal for some.

Meanwhile, he is rallying support for a future rezoning by appealing to owners deeper in the neighborhood.(He grew up and his parents still live in the neigborhood--so this equates to a personal appeal and not a whats best for the neighborhood.)

As Sharon pointed out, there are many different sides of this issue. And ownwer on the first few blocks are affected different than those further away from BLVD. Personally I dont want any commercial zoning on my block, but at the same time many houses are ran down on BLVD...I still do not know where I fall.

I do think the owner has made enemies over this ordeal, as he has made it clear that he will do what it takes to obtain the rezoning no matter we think. Additionally, he has made it clear that he does not care to have dialogue with us.

OH yes, we must not forget that when he lost the rezoning petition, he go so angry repainted the entire house in pastel stripes. So I am sure there is not much concern for the location or size of the sign!DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA

Lessen to be learned, if you want to rezone a property, let the neighbors into the dialogue. It makes thinks much easier and takes pride out of the equation.

Realtor

I live on Ohio and fear the congestion these properties would create on my street if they are zoned commercial. As far as the signs go (they have been removed), I personally contacted the realtor and explained they were a hazard and NOTHING was done, not even a return phone call. She doesn't even live in the neighborhood and has seriously misrepresented herself. I would be extremely disappointed if she received any other listing in our neighborhood after such a horrible first impression!
Code enforcement is a joke.

Well neighbors, the HUGE boat and construction equipment remain at Ohio and N. Boulevard.
The HUGE for sale signs have been replaced with normal size for sale signs and HUGE Barcnea campaign signs.

City council candidate Rick Barcena is a member of The City Code Enforcement Board!

I can not begin to imagine what Rick will do to our neighborhood if elected to Tampa City Council!

What next Rick? Used boat lot, buy here pay here car lot, adult book store?
