Riviera was founded around 1935 when "city dwellers" wanted to have a place to escape the summer heat. What began as a few concrete block summer homes soon became a true community.
We now boast a plethora of home styles - not a cookie-cutter community. Our diversity is what makes Riviera so unique.
Having weathered the 1937 flood Riviera has seen several more floods - although none as severe or damaging.
Riviera Flood Watch
River levels may be found in the Courier Journal Metro “Weather” section, page 2, under “Ohio River.” The flood stage for Louisville is listed, as well as river level for yesterday, today, tomorrow & the next day. The phone numbers for the US Coast Guard & the Army Corps of Engineers are listed at the bottom of this page. The Coast Guard number gives a current reading; the Corps of Engineers number gives a current reading & a 3 day prediction, however, it is not always precise.

In 1999 the RCA Board of Directors began a project that had long been thought about but never acted upon. There was enough money in the RCA treasury to construct a boardwalk along our riverfront! In addition, twelve boat slips were built & sold to residents who expressed an interest in having one.
The boardwalk only serves to enhance our pavilion that overlooks the Ohio River & is enjoyed by all our residents.
October is the month we elect a new Board. Anyone who would like to run for a spot on the Board please contact a current member who will place your name on the ballot (providing you meet the criteria - current with your assessments, have been a Riviera resident for at least 1 year)
The Riviera Community Association (RCA) has a community pavilion & boardwalk on the river for residents to enjoy. The pavilion is kept locked for safety purposes.
If any resident would like a copy of the By-Laws & Deed Restrictions they may call the current Secretary who will be happy to e-mail, fax or snail mail these documents. The By-Laws were first written around 1935 when Riviera was incorporated. A few changes have been made over the years but they are mostly in their original form. Any changes to the By-Laws must be voted on by the General Membership (residents & lot owners).
