National Night Out
Last Tuesday evening many local residents gathered at our neighborhood park to participate in an event held at many locations throughout the city and the nation since 1984. It is designed to
strengthen the neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. By coming together on such occasions we intend to send a message to everyone that we are organized and together are
determined to fight crime and make ourneighborhood a safe secure place for all our folks. Our cover picture illustrates the need for us to be proactive in this respect. A young man known to most of us as ?“Hotdog?” was shot and killed recently while driving down a neighborhood street. Friends placed a cross, a wreath and toy dolls at the base of one of the trees in the park as a memorial. So many others have been victims of violence, drugs and crime that we should all be reminded of the need to redouble our efforts to resist and report all crime in the neighborhood. Many thanks go to Francis and Donald Harris for all the fine food and to all those who hung the lights and decorations and to our partners in the Rozelle Artists Guild for providing the electricity making it possible to see the activity and hear the gospel group providing the entertainment while the children did their thing burning all that young energy.
It?’s about the chidren - stop the killing!
