crime in SIPNA
I feel pretty safe on my street. I take ordinary, common sense precautions like staying aware of my surroundings, keeping my phone with me, and locking up behind myself. Do you feel safe on YOUR street? Your question makes it sound like maybe you don't, why is that? |

Crime
I feel very safe on my street. The threat of any kind of violence being committed against me or my neighbors seems to be very remote here. I would not have any problem walking down my street or any of the streets in SIPNA at any hour. Property crime is more of a concern as we do have occasional break-ins to homes and vehicles. I was surprised to discover on the Commercial Appeal's new crime maps that a break-in occurred across the street from me just 2 or 3 months ago. At least the burglars sped away as soon as they were spotted by a neighbor. We can take comfort in the fact that we're dealing with petty thieves who are trying to steal ''safely'' when nobody's around. |

Yes I feel safe
Yes, I do feel safe on my street. In the almost ten years I've lived here I've only known of one threatening situation and that involved a neighbor, not some criminal off the street. I think I feel safe because I have neighbors who I know, people I talk to on a regular basis. Some of them are retired and make it a point to watch out for others. That's what it all comes down to - people looking out for each other. Now...if we could only get people to volunteer for Neighborhood Watch.... |
