The SKYWAY ASSOCIATION represents approximately 1,300 homeowners located within the Skyway neighborhood. It has long been active in addressing neighborhood issues and concerns at both the neighborhood and the City level. Recent years have seen heavy involvment in planning, zoning, development, and open space issues. Skyway has been a leader in efforts to establish responsible storm drainage management within the City and in efforts to preserve existing open space within the City boundaries.
The first major open space purchase by the City of Colorado Springs, the Myron Stratton Land, lies entirely within the boundaries of Skyway. Now a city park, it will be open to the public.
Bear Creek Park, a county regional park, is also located within Skyway. These large parcels of parkland offer both city and neighborhood residents excellent outdoor opportunities.
The SKYWAY ASSOCIATION publishes a bi-monthly newsletter which is mailed to all residents within the association boundaries. This newsletter, the YUCCA, serves to keep the area informed on neighborhood issues and events.
The Board of Directors is composed of 15 members and meets the last Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. All meetings are held at the Bear Creek Park Administration Building at 2002 Creek Crossing in Bear Creek Park. The public is welcome to attend these meetings.
If you are a resident within the Skyway boundaries, you are automatically a member of the SKYWAY ASSOCIATION. A voluntary membership fee ($15) is requested to defer costs for administration of the association. Additional memberships to the association on a voluntary donation basis are open to anyone who wishes to join regardless of where they live. Many former residents and nearby neighbors maintain such memberships. Membership registration forms are found in each issue of the YUCCA, or write to:
