The South Beach Resident Association is a group of residents, non-partisan citizrns acting together to solve community resident issues. We strive to spark discussion and inspire resident achievement in order that residents their lives living in public housing. This is one of NYCHA's oldest developments on Staten Island. Built in 1942 with fifteen buildings and 422 units.

Every member of the Association is elected to a three year term and plays a crucial role. The previous president, Edmund Barry, lost his wife in the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks and resigned, since then Scherisce Lewis-Clinton has been at the helm.

During her Presidency, Mrs. Lewis-Clinton has rallied to save public housing by lobbying in Albany and Washington, DC, fought for the successful installation of a traffic light at the corner or Reid and Norway Avenues, assisted with the growth of a wonderful Community Center for the children that provides many educational and extra-curricular programs,  and has seen the construction in 2009 of a SUNY ATTAIN Computer Lab to provide technology based education and computer availability to residents in need, and has brought together island-wide groups of community leaders and organizations in a successful rally to prevent the closing of FDNY Engine 61 on Mc Clean Avenue and Sand Lane.

The Association meets at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of the month at our Community Center located at 155 Norway Avenue, all are welcome to attend.

The Property Manager for the South Beach Houses is Leonard Danquah who always has had a good working relationship with the Association.

South Beach, with its easy access to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is a convenient hideaway in the big city. The South Beach neighborhood of Staten Island may lack the glamor of other city neighborhoods but it's a quiet and family oriented oasis within close proximity to our beautiful beaches.

We Love it Here at South Beach!

Come join the association, we look forward to having you.
