Since February 26, 1912, the Salt Lake Council of Women, through the united efforts of the many organization representatives, has been an impressive force for civic improvement.
Delegates to the Council come from individual women and women's organizations in the Salt Lake area and represent over 5,000 women, all of whom subscribe in some way to the goal of the Council as expressed in its motto "Community Service for Civic Improvement."
Prominent among the many and varied accomplishments of the Salt Lake Council of Women is the International Peace Gardens. Through the years the Council has supported many youth programs. Other projects have included the American Fork Training School, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Tuberculosis Sanitarium to name a few. The Council also gave help to the U.S.O. and the Red Cross during the Second World War.
Today, in addition to our continued commitment to the International Peace Gardens and the Hall of Fame, Council is involved with the University Hospital Project, the Y.W.C.A., the United Nations, the Wasatch Youth Center and the Utah Youth Village.
Through such endeavors as these, the Council continues to work toward its goal of "Community Service for civic Improvement."
