Highlights of Minutes - Meeting of June 1, 2004

Meeting held at Rustic Canyon Park

Membership report:
264 paid members at this time.
Annual meeting:
The annual meeting was discussed and the following was noted.
-Ballot box. We need to revisit the ballot process for next year. Voting members vs. non-voting members.
-Email. Email to members worked fine.
-Regular post did not work as well.
-Refreshments were great.
Old Business
Prop K:
LVNOC. A summary was emailed to members last week. The City announced it will start work on the Park improvements on the day after Labor Day.
Canyon Service Station:
Property is still up for sale.
The Court of Appeal overturned the City of Los Angeles approval of the car detailing service. Upon certification of the decision the Station will be notified.
501(c)(3) status.
The application has been filed with the California Secretary of State, awaiting reply.
Election of Officers.
The following Officers were elected for 2004-05 one year terms:.
President-George Wolfberg
Vice President-Barbara Archibald
Secretary-Marilyn Wexler
Treasurer-Babs Lebowsky
Assistant Treasurer-Steve Richards
Announcements.
Mail theft-New report of mail thefts on Sycamore and E. Rustic
Graffiti- Online Reporting graffiti implemented by City. www.Lacity.org/bpw/ocs
Split rail fence at park-a suggestion has been made that a woodcrete split rail fence be installed at the parks parking perimeter. George will contact concerned neighbors to speak to the board on this.
Tony Veschio-Tony called about city contractor, TruGreen using leaf blowers next to flood channel. ZAP sent letters off to City authorities.
Leaf blowers-Roscomare Homeowners group has passed a motion requesting a ban on all leaf blowers including electric ones.
AB2702-The "Granny Flat Bill" [AB 2702] has passed the Assembly and will go to the State Senate. Goal is to loosen restrictions on building second units on Residential lots..
House on Brooktree-George will research the status of this house for the next meeting.
New Business.
Jill Soffer will help prepare a public forum on Canyon development.
Meeting adjourned at 9pm.
