Our Deputy Liaison for Sherwood Neighborhood this year will continue to be Brian Wade. He will come to our meeting if time allows. We are committed to making Sherwood a great place to live and will continue to build strong ties with the Sheriff's Office. We have regular representation at the Citizen's Advisory Board at West Precinct and there is a program available called "Neighbors on Watch" if anyone would like to get certified.
2013 WAS A PRODUCTIVE YEAR FOR SHERWOOD NA
We held 3 well attended meetings including a Safety Fair regarding Emergency Preparedness
We had visitors from State and County Government.
We had an update from Clark County Public Works Dept.
We participated in a Neighborhood beautification project on Interstate 5 at the 78th Street Exit
MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED WITH THE 78TH ST EXIT LANDSCAPE PLANTING PROJECT
On November 2nd 2013 a team of over 70 volunteers came out to plant landscaping to beautify the exit. A mix of 135 trees and over 3000 daffodil bulbs were planted in a joint partnership between Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association and Neighborhood Associations of Clark County. The exit was never landscaped after a redesign by WASH DOT about 10 years ago. With donations of trees, bark dust and money we were able to get the job done. Thank you to helpers from Sherwood NA including: Roben White, June Yamrick, Kathie Gilmore, Bill and Bridget McLeman, Cliff Richard, and Vicki Fitzsimmons, Project Chairperson.
Many Neighborhood Leaders showed up including: Fairgrounds, Felida, NE Hazel Dell and West Hazel Dell. Fire District 6 had all 3 Commissioners there. Clark Regional Wastewater sent a team. Steve Stuart from BOCC also attended. Yard and Garden Land was instrumental in planning and delivery of trees. It was great to see it all come together and we will enjoy the results when we see the flowers bloom and trees grow over time at the freeway exit.
AGAIN, A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE INVOLVED!!
JANUARY MEETING WILL INCLUDE ELECTIONS FOR BOARD MEMBER POSITIONS
If you are interested in serving please let us know.
WE WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SPEAKERS AND TOPICS OF INTEREST TO OUR AREA
