Bellemeade Road Speed Humps

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

If I ask politely?  If I ask politely?  So, I lose my rights if I am not polite?  That being the case, 75% of the people in the country would lose their right to know or to speak freely.  Clear back when I was in the 8th grade, mr. I forgot his name taught us that freedom of speech is an unconditional right except in cases of slander, libel, or dangerous situations like yelling fire in a crowded thertre if there is no fire.  Nothing was mentioned about being polite.

Crude language?  Again, nothing was said about language restrictions on freedom of expression.

And, I notice that your post did not state where you found that 1200 foot rule.  Why not?

I know you work for free.  You probably spend money out of your pocket to do your job sometimes.  But, the fact still remains that somebody has to grab the bull by the horns and do what it takes to slow down the speeders.  That should be you.

And no, I do not want to have a private conversation with you about issues.  Issues and questions were posted openly on here for a reason.  So please post your replies on here in the light of day too.  Government has to be run openly.

And as for you ms reba; I recall your being rather mean-spirited yourself back about election time - hello darling!  BTW, I hope you do get your speed humps on your street; I do agree with you about their need.  If you get the speeders slowed down on your street, I hope they don't loop around and speed on mine or we'll be yelling for speed humps too.  Bellemeade will then be Speed Hump Tree City, yeah doggies!!!!!!

There is an OPEN Government forum every month at the City Meeting! Duh....THAT is where your questions and comments and suggestions are suppose to be addressed!  That my dear is how "Open" Government and Free Speech Works!  You do have the right to "free" speech...and be mean spirited about it if you so desire..but that is NOT how to resolve anything...

And YES! I can be mean spirited right back at You...no matter how much someone was trying to be nice and civil to you, you have just been rude.  So if rude is what you want, rude is what you'll get.  There are just some people that don't know how to be nice.

I could care less if more speedhumps were installed....I signed for them to be installed, and they were...were they enough...NO.  Nothing short of a Full Time Cop policing the street is going to slow down the drivers that pass thru our neighborhood.

Your right to free speech is in tact but polite civil quires go a long way with me.

The gentleman who requested the Metro Department of Public Works speed hump regulations now has a paper copy that I delivered to his home yesterday.

Two years ago I became mayor when Mayor Pontrich resigned and the commission selected me to fill out his remaining two year term. That happened in the middle of the long process  for installing the speed humps. Vicky did indeed request 6 speed humps and the commissioners after studying the request decided to install the four we have. My first meeting as mayor they voted to do that. After metro approved money for them I worked with public works on placement of the humps but it was really their choice where they would go. Once they were in Public works informed me that due to the length of the street and configuration of the intersections that there would me no more speed humps on Chadwick. The two short sections are less than the 1200 foot requirement.

Join the conversation! Find all of the latest neighborhood issues and concerns.    Ms reba25,  the underlined statement above came from the top of the discussion board.  You should have read it before you opened your big mouth (legally) and "my deared" me about the proper place to address questions, comments, and suggestions.  The city commission meeting which you incorrectly called an open forum has an agenda and only five people can vote regardless of the number in attendance.  It is NOT an open forum; it is a BUSINESS meeting!

You are so wrong ms reba25!!  OPEN government has to be 24/7/365; it is NOT restricted to a 30 minute meeting once a month

Yes, I know YOU can be mean-spirited and unnecessarily rude!!!!  That was ever so EVIDENT when you were attacking Mr Groh during the election campaign.  I suppose you thought the issues you have (or had) with our mayor could be resolved by being a witch yourself and making unfounded, unnecessary, crude, mindless comments about out mayor?   What would have been wrong with being nice back then?  Or, is that one of those "do as I say and not as I do" deals?  If you will read back, you will see that I an the one who took you to task over your mean-spiritedness then oh ye of short memory.  You were even mocking his calling as a minister and you now have the nerve or lack of the kindness you are now advocating to call someone else mean-spirited?  Open mouth,  insert foot Lady.

And, YOU being nice?  I surely won't hold my breath for that to happen.  You need to get the wad out of your pantie hose, My Dear.
